20 + collegiate women’s wrestling programs we saw in Fargo

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA—A place where college coaches get to recruit and/or just observe how prospects interact with coaches, competitors and officials under circumstances of both wins and losses.

It’s a great place for high school girls to display grit and passion. A coach might watch a wrestler take a loss and come away thinking, “I want her on my roster”.

It’s also a place where coaches get to see what might slip through on paper, via phone or on a visit in the neatly packaged best foot forward presence. I think most coaches will tell you they’d rather have quality over quantity, and that quality is a mixed bag of factors of which skill/talent is just a piece.

College coaches should be selective about who they bring onto their teams—from an internal team standpoint alone, culture is important.

Simpson University Head Coach Fan Zhang was named the 2019 Fargo Freestyle Outstanding Referee
