Argonauts finish week-long training excursion with friends in the North

EDMONTON, CANADA – – Instead of just going up to Canada for the Dinos Invitational this weekend, Head Coach Carlene Sluberski coordinated for the University of Providence women wrestlers to spend an entire week training with the University of Alberta.

“We decided to go up to Edmonton over our fall break to get in some training before our first competition,” said Sluberski. “It’s a great experience for our girls to train in a different environment and see different coaching perspectives/styles.”

Sluberski said the week has been a great learning opportunity. “We (coaches and athletes) are all challenged when we put ourselves in a foreign training environment. I think that it forces us to be a little more vulnerable than normal and we have no choice but to learn something. We are fortunate to have a relationship with our northern friends. It’s great for everyone.”

The Lady Argos will compete in the Dinos Invitational at the University of Calgary, Saturday.
