Menlo and Southern Oregon battle in Cascade Conference dual
ASHLAND, OR – – Menlo picked up their first victory of the 2019 season Thursday night in a Cascade Collegiate Conference dual vs Southern Oregon.
The Oaks are the returning WCWA & NAIA team champs, and they dominated 7 of the 10 matches in terms of outcome. To say the matches were contested without a battle would be amiss.

– Every match was contested
– All but the 155-pound match ended in a tech or fall
– Menlo picked up 15 points by fall, from Gracie Figueroa (116), Lizette Young (136) and Precious Bell (170)
– SOU was able to break Menlo’s lineup at 123, 130 and 155
– The 136-pound match could have gone either way; Meno’s Young was down 8-5 before earning a second period fall
– The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced the addition of women’s wrestling in May
– Menlo is currently ranked #2 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll and SOU is ranked #9
– Neither of these teams are WCWA members for the 2019-20 season
